Rhythmic Literacy
(Fall Term)
​

Rhythm is the duration of sound. 
Steady beat is the foundation for rhythmic learning and exploration.
Rhythm and beat can be organized into groups called meter.

Grading day is November 1st.
Melodic Literacy
​(Winter Term)


​Music is organized sound.
Melody is organized pitch.
Melody is also organized by direction and duration.
Harmony is created when two or more sounds are created together. 
​

​Grading day is March 6th.
Expressive Elements
(Spring Term)


Musicians express themselves through tonality, form dynamics, tempo, style and instrumentation. 
Learning to use these items helps us communicate our musical ideas with others.

​Grading day is June 10th.
