Mr. Grim's class will not be playing recorders. Please let me know if your student is in this class and you want them to play the recorder.
Students will learn how to play the recorder, read music, and develop correct playing technique. For sanitary reasons, I am asking that each student have their own recorder. If they bought a recorder in music class last year, that recorder will work, and they do not have to buy another. If your student didn’t buy a recorder last year or has lost their recorder, they need to buy one this year.
The recorders are $5.95 and include a neck strap, cleaning rod, and recorder case.
Please send $5.95 cash or a check made out to Liberty Elementary School.
If you are not able to purchase a recorder, please email me and let me know.
I have recorders set aside for borrowing.
Please do not purchase a recorder at the Dollar Tree or Wal-mart. These are toy recorders and not musical instruments.
Recorders are $5.95 Please send cash or make checks out to Liberty Elementary.
Recorder Grading:
Students will practice the following songs in class and will be given packets of music to take home and practice. They will need to complete all of their songs in their grade level to get a passing grade. Exceptions will be made if your student is new to Liberty and new to recorders. Students will be given opportunities to practice during class time and test on their songs with Miss Ryan during class. Miss Ryan takes volunteers first to test, then she makes sure to call every name on her list before she calls students to test a second time. When students come to test, they are only playing for Miss Ryan and will not be asked to play in front of the whole class. Students can play one song or all of their songs. If your student does not want to test during class time because they are nervous of scared, please let me know so we can set up a time before school, after school, or during recess.
